Dr. Tommy Brumett is Senior Pastor of First United Methodist Church in McKinney, TX. He served First UMC in Decatur from 2002-2008, and has served First UMC in McKinney since 2008, where the church has been identified as one of the fastest-growing large United Methodist churches in the U.S. He has been preaching in United Methodist congregations for 30 years.
Tommy holds degrees from Southwestern University and Southern Methodist University. He is married to Eve, and they have two children, Caitlin and Josh, and a granddaughter, Mary Olivia.
Tina Ripperger is a member of McKinney’s First United Methodist Church and is our trip coordinator. She has organized three previous journeys to the Holy Land for the church, in addition to a land-and-sea trip to Greece and Turkey. Tina loves to travel, most recently to soccer-related destinations with her two daughters in the U.S. and Europe. Tina joined her husband in real estate in 2009. They have been members of First UMC since 1999.
Our tour guide while we are in the Holy Land is Jerusalem native George Stephan. He has been a licensed Israeli tour guide for 17 years, and led our groups in 2012, 2013, and 2014. We are delighted that our request to work with him again was successful. He has studied history, theology, and archaeology at the graduate level in Israel, and has been a guest professor at universities in Jerusalem.
George plays basketball and coaches children’s teams in his spare time, works at an artisan co-op in Bethlehem, and volunteers his great knowledge of history and the land in educational settings for children.
